The Māori language commission are distributing $2.5million to a range of projects as part of the Mā te Reo programme.

Every year, Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori distributes Māori language community funding to whānau, hapū, iwi and other groups across the country. Mā te Reo is a Government funded programme established by the Ministry of Māori Affairs in 2001 to support projects that contribute to local level Māori language regeneration.

Today’s announcement is for the 2014/2015 round and includes funding for wānanga, kura reo ā-iwi, events/promotions and language resources. Acting CE Dr Poia Rewi says, ‘We’re always encouraged by the high calibre of applications received.’
